The games will draw inspiration from RuneScape's fantasy realm, Gielinor. The game will use the characters along with the locations, adventures RS Gold, and locales which the MMORPG has created a name for over its lengthy time. The board game will send up to five players on a mission-based journey through the realms of Gielinor.
According to the official announcement from Steamforged players play "craft and upgrade their equipment and characters, improve their skills, cook special recipes, engage with NPCs and test their skills exploring different regions of the world". Just as with the online MMORPG, players are also likely to come across side-quests to make the game more real.
Additionally, the TTRPG is expected to comprise an attractively illustrated core guide that will contain all the details needed by players to run a RuneScape TTRPG. It will allow players to create their own characters and head off for the lands of Gielinor to design "unique and thrilling adventures". In addition, the TTRPG base book will be "fully compliant with fifth edition ruleset of the world's most popular role-playing tablestop games".
The new project will be the first time that RuneScape will be available beyond a digital service, something that Jagex Director of Operations Phil Mansell is excited about:
"After almost 21 years only accessible digitally, it's extremely exciting to be collaborating with Steamforged to bring RuneScape games that play as role-playing games runescape 2007 gold. I am sure that RuneScape as well as Old School RuneScape gamers will be excited to play with the planned miniatures and create their own stories."
